New game Satan Claus for Sega Genesis / Mega Drive
A new game, Satan Claus, has been released on cartridges for the 16-bit retro consoles Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. There are several major issues that prevents this game from being a good investment. I can tell you some of the major ones for your own benefit...
Music:
The music sounds quite bad compared to the dozens of modern Genesis/Megadrive games that are currently being released every year, it is quite below par.
The music cannot keep the same speed at all times, the speed keeps increasing and decreasing making it extra annoying.
Some music tracks are non royalty free.
Graphics and Game-play:
Again, compared to the dozens of modern Genesis/Megadrive games that are currently being released every year, it is quite below par.
The game is simple, confusing and not engaging, the difficulty is not well balanced, I lost most of my lives at the rolling boulder segment, which I couldn't get through.
After several times getting crushed by the boulder I simply appeared in what seems to be hell, where I spent A LOT OF TIME trying to get out of that level.
I felt trolled and frustrated beyond measure. I will not be the only one.
Story:
The intro does not describe the purpose of the game, or of the protagonist.
It is written as a historical description of what the Christmas origins might have been, and it is written in a documentary style, without giving context to the protagonist or his mission. Just a rant against the popular occidental understanding of Christmas, nothing else.
Again, compared to the dozens of modern Genesis/Megadrive games that are currently being released every year, it is quite below par. 7 years ago this would be a different story, but in today's 2024, this is what it is.
I wish you the best and I hope that you take my explanations as constructive feedback so you can better understand the reality.
